The Who's Pete Townshend Admits Regret Over Forming The Who (2011)
In The Who: The Ultimate Music Guide, a publication by Uncut Magazine, Townshend admits his regret in joining a band. He says, "What I would have done differently? I would have never joined a band. Even though I am quite good a gang member and a good trooper on the road, I am bad a creative collaboration."
Longtime Head of Apple Corps Neil Aspinall Dead at 66 (2008)

Aspinall, who worked as the head of Apple Corps from 1970 to 2007, died in a New York hospital following a battle with lung cancer. In his time with the multimedia corporation, he led the legal battle against Apple (as in the computer company) over the use of the name, as well as the royalties dispute between The Beatles and EMI Records.
The Film of The Concert for Bangladesh Premieres in New York (1972)
Film footage of a concert featuring George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Eric Clapton, premiered on this day in 1972 following the success of the initial event in question. It was the first benefit concert of such a high magnitude in world history, raising over $243,000 for Bangladesh relief. The initial goal was set at only $25,000 dollars.
The Beatles Win Three Ivor Novello Awards (1967)
In a ceremony taking place at the Playhouse Theatre in London, England, The Beatles won three awards three different songs for 1966. Best-selling British single for "Yellow Submarine", most-performed song for "Michelle", and next-most-performed song for "Yesterday". None of The Beatles were in attendance that night, however, and the songs were covered by Joe Loss and His Orchestra, with Ross MacManus (the father of Elvis Costello) covering the vocals for "Michelle".
John Lennon Publishes In His Own Write (1964)
In His Own Write, a book of verse and rhyme, was officially published in the UK. It was a success, selling around 300,000 copies in Britain. Popular writings within the collection include No Files on Frank, Good Dog Nigel, The Wrestling Dog, I Sat Belonely, and Deaf Ted, Danoota (and me).

Bartram, who turns 71 today, was the longtime frontman of Showaddywaddy. He remained with the band for 38 years before leaving in 2011.
David Olney (1948-2020)
David Olney was a folk singer active from 1971 up until his death in 2020. He recorded over 20 albums over the course of his 49 year-long career.
Jimmy Miller (1942-1994)
Miller was a record producer and musician known for working with The Rolling Stones, as well as the various bands fronted by Steve Winwood, which include Traffic and Blind Faith. He also worked with MÓ§torhead from the late '70s until his death in 1994.
