The Beatles Release "Please Please Me" in the US (1963) & Arrive in the US for the First Time (1964)

The following year, The Beatles made their first appearance in the States. Their flight, Pan Am flight 101, was greeted by over 5,000 fans as it arrived at JFK Airport in Queens, New York.
The Stooges Release Raw Power (1973)
Raw Power was the Stooges' third studio album, which contains one of their most well-known songs, "Search and Destroy". Although it was originally mixed by vocalist Iggy Pop, it had to be remixed by David Bowie due to Pop's lack of regard for overall quality.
The album has gained a cult following over the years, and is considered one of the most influential proto-punk albums of all time.
Stephen Stills Becomes the First Rock Performer to Record on Digital Equipment (1979)
Stills, who had recorded material at a studio in Los Angeles at the time, is credited with being the first to use digital equipment for recording and mastering. However, he did not release the material and credit for the first release goes to Ry Cooder with Bop Till You Drop.

Former Status Quo bassist Alan Lancaster was born in 1949. He would have been 74 today.

Rock and Blues vocalist Deborah Bonham, sister of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, celebrates her 61st birthday today. She was born in 1962.
