Just last month, former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, but could not make it to the ceremony due to setback in his diagnosis of stage four metastatic prostate cancer. Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon read a letter written by him highlighting this announcement. Part of the letter reads: "Although my current condition is not immediately life threatening there is no cure. Recently I was doing okay after some very sophisticated life extending treatment, that was until a week or so ago when I suffered a setback, and despite the exceptional efforts of my team, I had to be honest in that both physically and mentally, I would be pushing my boundaries."
Regarding the new song, Nick Mason states: "It's an honor and a delight to be asked to play on this record...I mean, what's not to like? My favorite recording studio, the opportunity to work with great artists on a wonderful track - and for the most worthy cause...oh, and a complimentary lunch in the Abbey Road canteen!"
"This Christmas Time" has been released through Evamore Records, and is currently available on the The Cancer Platform's website, where you can also find behind-the-scenes footage, photos, quotes from the artists, information on all of the personnel involved, as well as information from Prof. Sir Chris Evans on how he put the song together.
